WasteAid Circular Economy Network Website design for a cleaner future
WasteAid is an independent UK non-profit charity, set up by waste management professionals to share practical and low-cost waste management know-how with communities in low-income countries.
They had developed a website for their new circular economy initiative and contacted design studio Superfried as they required rapid help with the webpage designs. Focusing on three regions – India, Vietnam, and South Africa – WasteAid was offering funding to help new companies with innovative solutions to waste management to move towards a circular economy.
Analysing the existing website, it was clear there was a lot of information to convey. It was, therefore, important to keep it clean and content focused, but also add visual impact. Looking at the existing brand assets available for the site revealed a strong, secondary brand colour palette and high-end photography.
Simple brand application of the brand colour palette to the backgrounds created visual impact without compromising legibility. The photography was subsequently applied to annotate and break up the web content. Additional bespoke icons and infographics were also designed to convey key, essential information.
Collaborating with their developer, webpage designs and webpage layouts were tested thoroughly to ensure they worked responsively across all device breakpoints.
